Two Landmark Innovation Proposals Submitted to BADC: Hyper-Local AI Agro-Marketplace & Hi-Tech Plant Factory (2019)
By Md. Mamunur Reza (Assistant Program Director, APCU-BADC PARTNER & PhD Fellow)
Submission Dates: March 13, 2019 & June 2019 | Institution: Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC)
In the spring and summer of 2019, I authored and formally submitted two comprehensive institutional innovation proposals (বিএডিসিতে প্রস্তাবকৃত উদ্ভাবনী আইডিয়া) to the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) aimed at modernizing national agricultural input delivery and climate-resilient crop production.
Proposal 1: Hyper-Local Marketplace — AI-Based Agro-Inputs E-Commerce Service for BADC
Submitted: March 13, 2019. This blueprint proposed transforming BADC’s nationwide network of seed, fertilizer, and irrigation service centers into a unified, AI-assisted hyper-local digital marketplace. By matching regional crop calendars and soil-climatic demand with real-time dealer inventory, the system was designed to eliminate supply bottlenecks and ensure last-mile delivery of certified seeds to smallholder farmers.
Proposal 2: Hi-Tech Plant Factory Establishment Project for Exportable Organic Crops
Submitted: June 2019. Titled “Hi-tech Plant Factory Establishment Project for Production of Exportable Organic Crops Mitigating Climate Change Impact and Agricultural Land Reduction Risk,” this project outlined how multi-layer, climate-controlled plant factories could insulate high-value horticultural production from monsoon flooding, heatwaves, and rapid urbanization while meeting international phytosanitary export standards.
